Throughout life, many women learn to care for everyone before caring for themselves. They fulfill expectations, carry the weight of other people's stories, and remain in places where they can no longer grow. Yet there comes a moment when an inner voice calls them toward the light, even if it means leaving behind a former version of themselves.
In this work, one figure rises with determination toward an illuminated doorway while the others remain watching. They do not represent different people, but different stages of the same woman: the one who doubted, the one who suffered, the one who waited, and finally, the one who chose her own path.
The red hearts symbolize the experiences that shaped her—love, loss, hope, and heartbreak—which, rather than breaking her, became part of her strength. The light ahead is not a destination but a state of being: the moment a woman realizes she deserves to be the central character in her own life.
The Courage to Choose Herself is a tribute to all women who have found the strength to honor their worth, protect their peace, and move forward without seeking permission.
Because transformation begins the day a woman stops asking who will choose her and decides to choose herself.
